Top 5 Cosmetic Surgeries in Women.
Scottsdale – For those who want to know about the most popular procedures for women and men, we have compiled this data on our blog. The data originates from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Inc. This is the data for the latest completed year, 2009.
It is not surprising to see that breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure among women in 2009. Members of the Aesthetic Society performed 311,957 breast augmentations in 2009. Liposuction was the second most popular procedure among women, with 243,217 lipo procedures performed last year.
The next three most popular cosmetic surgery procedures rounding up the top 5 lists: 3rd, blepharoplasty or cosmetic eyelid surgery, 4th, abdominoplasty or tummy tuck surgery, and 5th place is breast reduction surgery.
The number of eyelid lifts performed in 2009 was 124,939 barely outpacing tummy tuck which was 123,041. The data does not tell us whether lipo was performed in combination with tummy tuck or on its own.
I noticed that rhinoplasty was not in the top 5 procedures among women, and that was a bit of a surprise for me. Overall, 105,597 nose reshaping procedures were performed on noses. The number of women having cosmetic surgery far outpaces men.
Other numbers, not in the top 5, that I found interesting were those in relation to plastic surgery after major weight loss. These included the lower body lift, which resulted in 6,496 cases performed in 2009. There were 11,222 thigh lifts performed and 15,778 arm lifts performed in 2009. The buttock lift was performed 2,797 times by ASAPS surgeons in 2009, while buttock augmentation was performed 4,726 times in the data compiled.
