0Scottsdale – In preparation for our first seminar of the year, the Plastic Surgery after Major Weight Loss Seminar, we have updated our website photos for arm lift surgery.
We added 5 additional before and after photos sets of arm lift surgery (click here for photos). Most of the additional photos were performed on patients after major weight loss. All of the patients had bariatric surgery like lap band or gastric bypass surgery. Some lost weight following a strict diet and exercise regiment. We also updated the text so our patients could understand about the body mass index better.
We mention on the description section of the before and after photos, the maximum body mass index and the body mass index on the day of surgery. I believe this will be very helpful for patients contemplating arm lift to know these numbers.
The rule of thumb is the greater the difference in the body mass numbers, the greater the change in the arms, and the more dramatic the change after arm lift surgery.

Scottsdale – Every once in a while you run into a product that is highly recommended by one of your own plastic surgery patients. Unbeknown to me, in this particular case, was the Oleeva arm lift scar reduction sheet.
Arm lift surgery is usually associated with good results. In some cases, permanent scars can arise. It is usually best, therefore, to recommend aggressive scar therapy soon after cosmetic surgery of the arms. We, at the AB Guerra Plastic Surgery Center, recommend only high quality products.
We offer the two major options for arm lift incisions in our plastic surgery practice. An incision can be placed either in the front or in the back of the arm. We recommend scar manipulation therapy for both types of incisions.
All cosmetic surgery patients should realize that the greater the excess found (in terms of the amount of skin and fat), the longer the incisions required. The anterior arm lift techniques are all performed using an incision in the front of the arm where it may be more visible, and usually located over major blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatic channels of the arm.
We also recommend the posterior arm lift with incisions hidden in the back of the arm. While this incision is placed in a location which is easier to hide, scar therapy with Oleeva Silicone Sheets is highly recommended. With the posterior arm lift more skin can be removed resulting in a tighter result.

Goals of arm lift in Arizona.
The goal of arm lift is to remove the excess skin and leave the arms with an improved contour. With age and weight gain, upper arm skin can become loose and flabby. Unfortunately, exercise and diet will usually not help after the patient develops excess skin. In some cases, skin excess seen after major weight loss can be overwhelming.
Scottsdale plastic surgeon offers two options for arm lift.
The two options with arm lift utilize incisions either in the front or in the back of the arm. In general, the greater the excess found, the longer the incisions required. The anterior arm lift techniques are all performed using an incision in the front of the arm where it may be visible, and which is usually located over major blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatic channels of the arm.

For this reason, we offer the arm lift with incisions hidden in the back of the arm. This incision is placed where there are no major vessels, nerves and lymphatic channels. This helps to speed recovery and minimizes the use of drains. With the posterior arm lift more skin can be removed resulting in a tighter result.
Arm tuck incision that is easier to hide.
The posterior arm tuck incision is easier to hide and demonstrates favorable healing. When meeting people at social events, patients can extend the arm without worrying about the incision showing. Only a small portion of the incision can be seen when the observer is standing directly behind the patient. Major weight loss patients develop a tremendous amount of excess skin down the back of the arm and into the bra rolls.

The incision in the back of the arm can extended into the chest so that the excess skin can be addressed with a single operation.Recovery after arm lift takes 10 to 14 days. Patients are required to wear a light bandage with Ace wraps for two weeks and only a few sutures need removal after surgery.
