Thigh Lift
Know your Options: Body Contouring.
Dec 21st
Scottsdale – The plastic surgery procedures known to improve the shape and size of the body are known as: Body Contouring. These surgeries can include well-known procedures such as tummy tuck, liposuction, body lift and many others.
When are you a candidate for any of these procedures? The answer is not simple, unfortunately. However, three basic tips can help most individuals answer when and which of these plastic surgery procedures will serve their interests best.
Tip 1. When you have unwanted isolated fat pockets with good to excellent skin tone and you want to have a better body shape, then liposuction is likely the best procedure for you. Look at the area that bothers you and look at the skin. If you have stretchmarks, loose and flabby skin, then lipo will not work the best.
Tip 2. When you find yourself with fat pockets, flabbiness, loose skin, and strechmarks in any area of the body, then a procedure which can remove the unwanted fat and skin is going to give you the best results. If the excess is in the arms, then an arm tuck is best compared to lipo. If the excess is in the thighs, then a thigh lift is better than lipo. If the same occurs in the tummy, then a tummy tuck is a better operation, especially if you have had children.
Tip 3. If you find that you have lost a lot of weight with or without bariatric surgery and developed tremendous amounts of excess skin then a procedure like a body lift may be better for you. The only way to remove all that excess skin is by having a comprehensive body contouring procedure designed for patients after major weight loss.
I hope these three simple tips are helpful. The best way to find out which procedure best fits your needs, is to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. Medial Thigh Lift: What is involved?
Dec 2nd
Scottsdale – A medial thigh lift is a most commonly performed thigh lift surgery. The best candidates for this operation are people who have developed mild saggy skin in the inner thighs. Usually these people are not major weight loss patients.
Patients for a medial thigh lift usually have excess skin and fat that is limited to an area high on the inner thigh. The medial thigh lift is designed for patients who are dissatisfied with the shape of their legs or who would like to remove excess skin in the area.
During a medial thigh lift procedure, an incision is made in the groin that goes to the back of the crease of the buttock. Skin in then lifted and excess skin and fat are removed to improve the shape of the inner thigh and tighten the skin. The final closure of the medial thigh incision is completed with a multilayer technique and the incision is reinforced with a glue sealant that effective seals the wound.
We prefer to perform medial thigh lift in a outpatient center with an overnight stay. All patients are expected to walk the evening of surgery. The next morning, a soft diet is started after the patient gets out of bed and walk.
Thigh lift surgery creates incisions and scars. However, thigh lift scars are usually located in a relatively inconspicuous location and, for many patients, are minor in comparison to the benefits provided by the surgery. You must weight the benefits of eliminating excess fat and skin with thigh lift surgery against the potential drawbacks and risks.

4. The average downtime is about 2 weeks.
5. The complication rate is about 50 percent, but most complications are minor wound healing problems.

Combined Medial and Lateral Thigh Lift with Buttock Augmentation.
Nov 10th
Scottsdale – There is a procedure that can lift the inner thigh, outer thigh and buttocks using a single operation. The procedure is called the Spiral Lift. The technique is interesting because it addresses these anatomic areas using a single incision. As a bonus, the tissue from the hips can be repositioned in order to augment the buttocks.
The article describing this operation was published in the journal Aesthetic plastic Surgery. The authors say that use of the technique in their practice was infrequent. Of 253 patients only 5 had the Spiral Lift. The results are indeed impressive, especially considering that surgery is carried out as an outpatient with a 23-hour stay, combined with an average of 5.3 liters of lipo and a relatively low blood loss of 220 ml. They report no major complications, re-operations and acceptably low complications. In fact, the patients only experienced minor complications.
The procedure is similar to circumferential body surgery, minus the anterior abdominal incision. This could be advantageous as the patient avoids an incision there. However, this could be considered a disadvantage if the patient requires abdominal skin resection or muscle tightening. The need for skin resection and muscle tightening in today’s society is very high. A bodylift would be more successful in these cases because it tightens the anterior abdominal wall, lifts the outer thighs, and buttocks.
Patients with the type of body contour deformity, the so-called “violin” shape, in which the Spiral Lift is used, are very rare indeed. The procedure might appeal to persons without abdominal excess skin or muscle laxity, but who may have saggy inner and outer thighs with small saggy buttocks. The authors should be commended for their ingenuity in the design and application of the Spiral Lift.
