Guerra Plastic Surgery Center will attend Arizona’s Ultimate Women’s Expo.
Arizona’s Ultimate Women’s Expo will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center in Downtown Phoenix. The expo starts on Saturday, October 22nd and will end on Sunday October 23rd. Doors open at 10am and closes at 5pm each day.
Guerra Plastic Surgery Center has been a proud supporter of the event since 2007. Dr. Aldo Guerra is one of the top plastic surgeons in Arizona and it will be fun to meet with attendees. Our plastic surgery staff will help educate and inform women on safe plastic surgery techniques, the latest information on silicone breast implants and the popular cosmetic procedures.

A Non-Surgical option for the Double Chin.

Non Plastic Surgery Options for the Double Chin!
Scottsdale – No one likes a double-chin. Now German pharmaceutical giant Bayer says it is doing something about it. The company has announced it is starting phase III clinical trials of a drug to dissolve unwanted fat deposits. Traditionally, the double chin deformity is treated with a variety of plastic surgery operations. Common cosmetic surgery procedures performed for the double chin include facelift, necklift, and neck lipo. A non-surgical option would therefore be a BIG DEAL!
The downside of using this non-surgical method, is that the drug, called ATX-101, would be administered to patients through a series of 40 to 70 “mini injections”. Now, that is a lot of injections!
I have to question whether all patients would like to have that many injections into their necks?
ATX-101 works by dissolving small quantities of fat cells and, according to Bayer, can be used with little or no anesthetic. Early tests are said to have found the drug “safe and tolerable.” Now the drug is going into more advanced clinical trials and shows promise for a possible Europen approval in the future.
Yvonne Moeller, a spokeswoman for Bayer, said people should “see noticeable results after about 16 weeks.”
A recent article discussed the drug is specifically aimed at “reducing localized fat under the chin”, while leaving the surrounding tissue unaffected. The only current treatment for double chins involves surgical procedures. The trials will involve 720 people at 64 centres around Europe. Bayer aims to launch the product in Europe, Asia and South America by 2014.
One day, treatments like this may be available, but for now you will have to talk to your local plastic surgeon about other options.

Many of us develop a little extra under the chin. Many of us could therefore be could candidates for plastic surgery of the neck. When cosmetic surgery patients come to my office complaining of a “turkey gobbler” this typically means large skin folds hanging under the chin.
Neck Lift to Reshape the Neck.
A good treatment for this condition includes the plastic surgery operation known as a neck lift. Neck lift surgery includes incisions hidden around the ear and under the chin, the plastic surgeon then surgically releases the skin and exposes the underlying muscles and uses a suture technique to tighten the muscles. In order to remove the fat more effectively, liposuction might be used to help create a more youthful appearance.
When only Liposuction is needed in the Neck.
What about if you just have some fat and no extra skin? I see this all the time and is more common in today’s society than the classic turkey gobbler neck. In cases where the skin is not excessive and the bulge only involves fat, liposuction is the treatment of choice for the area.
