What do you need to know before choosing you plastic surgeon?
One of the most important aspects of proceeding with cosmetic plastic surgery is choosing a plastic surgeon. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has some great information on helping patients find the right plastic surgeon. We highly recommend patients get two or three consultations with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons before the make a decision. All ASPS Member Surgeons are required to be board certified in plastic surgery. The ASPS website has a directory where you can find a surgeon close to where you live.

A Little More on Fat Grafts…

Scottsdale – A more refined introduction to fat grafting, based on history. Historically, it was believed that facial fat was a continuous layer of tissue under the skin. Similarly, facial aging was looked as the result of gravity pulling and stretching the facial skin and fat layer.
Plastic surgeons made great strides in understanding facial aging. A critical publication was the 1965 article by Gonzalez-Ulloa, who described facial aging as involving all the structures of the face, including the muscles, bone, skin and fat.
More recent studies have demonstrated the facial fat is not a continuous layer, but is compartmentalized into sections. With this understanding, techniques for facial plastic surgery have evolved.
For optimal cosmetic surgery results, the modern plastic surgeon should have a three dimensional understanding of the facial structures and how aging can affect these over time.
In other words, consideration fat injections should carefully consider all four levels of volume deficiency. When performing facial rejuvenation surgery, volume restoration, skin tightening and skin resurfacing should be combined.
