The Big Butt Book.

Scottsdale – There has been a resurgence of interest in the buttocks over the last few decades. Finally, there is a book which explores the history of the buttocks through photographs.

According to Amazon (where you can also purchase the book for your own collection), the butt all but disappeared from western culture in the breast-obsessed second half of the 20th century. This new book is a victory for the fully formed fanny which is currently enjoying a resurgence, attributed by some to American actress Jennifer Lopez.

The photos are compiled by Taschen editor Dian Hanson. The Big Butt Book focuses on one of our favorite parts in the plastic surgery arena. The book contains over 400 prime examples dating as far back as 1900, and includes interesting tidbits, trivia and interviews. While some may consider this the ultimate coffee table set for your main room, we may very well use it to inspire cosmetic surgery patients and plastic surgeons alike.

In our practice, the Brazilian Butt Lift operation, in which the plastic surgeon enhances the butt by fat transfer or fat grafting has grown in popularity over the past decade. This may be due to the cultural blending occurring in America, or more simply to the fact that we’re waking up to the womanly rump which has always been an object of worship in the southern hemisphere. I feel that it might be a good idea for anyone considering buttock surgery to look in this book and see what occurs in nature.
