Lower Body Lift, MAP, and Lovenox: II.

Fine balance of lower body lift, MAP, and Lovenox.

Scottsdale – This is the second part of a three part blog series in which we discuss the relationship between lower body lift, mean arterial pressure and low molecular weight heparin, like Lovenox®.

We learned in first blog the deep vein thrombosis are a risk of all surgery, including cosmetic surgery.

Lower Body Lift Surgery: Managing the Risks.

Plastic surgeons always want to reduce the rate of complications. One of the best therapies to reduce the risks of deep vein clotting complications is the use of blood thinners. In a perfect world, the blood thinner would only thin out the blood enough to reduce the risks of blood clots. In other words, the thinning of the blood would stop short of creating major bleeding complications. Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world!

Excellent risk reduction in Lower Body Lift Surgery.

As your cosmetic surgeon is managing your risks after lower body lift surgery a balance must be found in order to lower the risks of blood clots while minimizing the risks of bleeding after cosmetic surgery. Clinical studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of low molecular weight heparin, like Lovenox, in reducing the risks in a variety of major operations. Bleeding, albeit at a low rate, has always been a major side effect of this therapy across studies. This medication offers excellent risk reduction when appropriately used.

The risk reduction across Cosmetic Surgery operations.

The management of the plastic surgery patient’s blood pressure will have an affect on the risks of bleeding with lower bodylift,  tummy tuck and thigh lift when low molecular weight heparin is used to reduce the risks of blood clots. There is a fine balance that must be achieved and this will be discussed in greater detail in our third portion of this blog.

An announcement will be made soon on the blog about the date for our next Plastic Surgery after Major Weight Loss Seminar. Please stay tuned. The seminar is given by Board certified Plastic Surgeon, Aldo B. Guerra MD, FACS.

Thigh Lift In Arizona.

0

Scottsdale – Thigh lift is an important plastic surgery operation.

Popularity of thigh lift in Arizona continues to grow.

Patients commonly request thigh lift surgery. The thighs may easily accumulate fat and excessive skin in most people. With weight gain, the volume in the thighs is significant and the excess tissue may not disappear after weight loss. In fact, the thighs usually look worse with weight loss due to the accumulation of pockets of deflated skin and cellulite. Many patients, therefore, prioritize thigh surgery very high on their plastic surgery wish list.

What is a thigh lift?

A thigh lift most often refers to a procedure that removes unwanted excess skin, dimples and cellulite from the inner thighs. The procedure may be extended to include the entire thigh region from the groin and all the way down to the knees and beyond. An inner thigh lift is most often recommended after major weight loss to lift the saggy thighs and make the skin look smoother.

Design of the inner thigh lift after major weight loss.

An inner thigh lift will have various components in its design. Each thigh lift procedure is performed taking into account the areas of excess, but in general, there is a horizontal component which removes excess skin and lifts the thigh. There may is also be a vertical component that removes excess seen as we look down at the thigh going towards the knee. This design is the most effective inner thigh lift surgery after major weight loss and leads to the most predictable result. This design also heals the best creating a successful long-term result.

The steps involved in thigh lift surgery.

Surgery begins with appropriate markings performed before you go into the surgery suite. General anesthesia is provided safely by a board certified anesthesiologist. After anesthesia, the marked areas are incised and the excess skin is removed. The procedure allows for the maximal amount of tightening and size reduction. The final closure is completed with a carefully orchestrated multilayer technique and the incision is reinforced with a glue sealant that immediately and effective closes the wound, so that patients may safely shower soon after surgery. A light dressing is applied to minimize swelling and increase comfort.

Thigh lift goes smoother when performed at a hospital with overnight stay.

We prefer to perform inner thigh lift in a hospital setting and keep patients in the facility for several days. All patients are expected to walk the evening of surgery. The next morning, a soft diet is started after the patient gets out of bed and walks.Recovery from inner thigh lift usually takes about 6 weeks. Patients can return to work about 14 days after surgery. Before and After photos of thigh lift can be viewed at our main plastic surgery website.
